Do I need a phone line to do uploads
like satellite systems?<top>
No. Dexter Broadband uses bi-directional antennas
that can send and receive without any phone lines.
Can
I mount the antenna indoors?<top>
In certain areas, you can. Our radio signals can penetrate
through drywall and clear windows if the signal is strong
enough in that area. The antenna may not be mounted
indoors if there are obstructions such as trees, steel,
tinted windows, or windows with heavy lead content between
the antenna and our base stations.
What
about security?<top>
Communications between your antenna and our base stations
are encrypted to prevent eavesdropping.
Does
this use a satellite receiver?<top>
Wireless is not to be confused with satellite access,
like Direct PC, or lumped in with cellular phone services
which are slow and require handheld devices, fixed-wireless
Internet access does not suffer from the latency problems
and bandwidth symmetry problems experienced with most
broadband services. With speeds up to 500Mbps in both
directions, Dexter Broadband service is able to provide
the speed you need while uploading AND downloading.
Fixed wireless
does not require satellite systems, a cable connection,
or even local phone service. By eliminating many of
the expenses associated with other high-speed services,
we are able to pass much of the savings on to our customers
to provide an affordable yet high performance service
for business and demanding residential users.
Dexter Broadband
uses a small microwave antenna that is attached
to a radio at the customer premises. The Customer Premise
Equipment (CPE) is pointed back to one of our towers.
Even during rain or snow, your Wireless connection will
be strong, reliable, and out of reach of falling limbs,
outages, and other effects prone to wired networks.
Why
Wireless?<top>
In two words, No Wire! By removing the cabling and connections
of a complex phone or cable network, Dexter Broadband offers
extreme reliability as an end-to-end service without
another company in the middle.
This results in better performance. With symmetrical
bandwidth in both directions, upload speeds are typically
faster than other broadband technologies at comparable
prices.
How
fast is installation?<top>
Orders are often completed within days, not weeks
or months as can happen with other services. With the
area's most knowledgeable staff, Dexter Broadband service boasts
100% customer satisfaction. Call 1-888-999-7540
today for a free on site survey to see if you are eligible
for Wireless service.
What
is involved in Installation?<top>
A typical installation
consists of installing our equipment on the side of
your building or on a mounting pole and connecting it
to your single computer or LAN hub.
Special
Installation Circumstances
A typical installation is one that can be completed
within 2 hours. Custom Installations are billed on a
case by case basis.
How
do I arrange payment?<top>
We ask you for the 1st
month and the installation charges in advance on the
day of install. At Dexter Broadband we try our best to make
it easy to do business!
What
are my connection requirements?<top>
Wireless service
is delivered to your computer or LAN via Ethernet. If
we are delivering the service to a single computer,
your computer must have an Ethernet port installed.
Many recently manufactured computers were sold including
an Ethernet port. You must have at least one spare
port on the hub or switch to accept our connection.
If you have no spare ports, you can order a hub
or switch from us or purchase
one yourself.
Technical
Support Policy?<top>
Our goal is to install
our service on your computer and leave you with a working
service. If you encounter a problem after we leave please
call us during business hours or contact us via email
and we will resolve your problem as quickly as we can.
We can be reached at 1-888-999-7540.
Frequently Dexter Broadband
customers call us with support
issues that are not the result of using our service
and equipment. We employ highly trained support people
with broad knowledge and if we can solve your problem,
we are pleased to be of service. Technical questions
that fall outside the realm of our equipment will be
given reasonably but a fee may be required.
